Description

Thurston, Kellar's Successor, Strobridge, 1908, one-sheet poster. A fine example of this extremely rare and sought after poster. Along the bottom edge it says "Copyright 1908 by the Strobridge Litho Co. Cincinnati + New York". 1908 was the year that Harry Kellar announced Thurston as his successor. The poster was created at that time under Kellar�s direction, and is a mirror image of the design used in Kellar�s famous portrait poster. This poster was linen-mounted by Hermann of New York City. Condition: Some minor restoration to edge areas in the blue margin. White margin was trimmed and has been replaced or reattached. Also minor touch-up to 6 areas approx 1/4" each, these are distrubuted near the word "Thurston". A single barely remaining horizontal crease indicating that is was folded at one time, perhaps when it was originally sent. Thurston's portrait, the imps and all other lettering are near perfect. To determine the above, I've studied the poster with bright lights shining from behind. With the poster hanging on the wall, none of the above items are visible and it looks absolutely wonderful.
